I’ve decided to do some fall sewing projects on the weekends. I love the look of these gathered scarves and bought the fabric and elastic thread to try my hand at them in three colors – grey, pink and camel. I’ve also wanted to make some rose headbands and have added them to my project list. I’ll post my finished projects soon and hope to use some for holiday gifts. Happy autumn everyone.

The Color Purple
I just love purple and lavendar. Purple is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good color to use in meditation. Purple has been used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty. Being the combination of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colors, purple is believed to be the ideal color. Most children love the color purple. Purple is the color most favored by artists.

Cherished Keepsakes
I feel very honored and blessed to come from a family of great women. My maternal grandmother lived to be 97 years old and my mother is now 78. My great great grandmother traveled from the East Coast to the Midwest as a child in a covered wagon in the 1800's. She raised her 5 grandchildren when her daughter suddenly died and made a living as a seamstress after her husband headed West to the gold rush and never returned. I have a heritage to be proud of. I was absolutely thrilled when my mother gave me my grandmother's vintage fostoria dishes. I use them for very special occasions and will pass them down to my daughter and granddaughters.

1st Birthday Cupcakes
My precious little grandaughter just turned one. I volunteered to make the cupcakes and try my hand at some new recipes. Much to my surprise, they turned out wonderful. I made chocolate with peanut butter mousse filling, white with raspberry mousse filling and red velvet with cream cheese mousse filling. They were the hit of the party.
